Artist Biography

1925 Born in Hong Kong
1968–70 Completed certificate course in Art and Design, Extra-mural Studies of the University of Hong Kong
1974 Founding member of the Hong Kong Visual Arts Society and chaired the group for the first four years
1989 Jointly established Culture Corner Art Academy with Josephine Chow in Tai Po, N.T. Hong Kong
1995 Founding member of the Artmatch Group and chaired for the first four years

Works shown in more than 100 major exhibitions in Hong Kong and overseas.
(including: London, Switzerland, Hamburg, Paris, Malaysia, Manila, Macau, Seoul,
Vancouver, Tokyo, Calgary, Paris, City of Santa Monica, Fukuoka, Guangzhou,
Beijing, Fuzhou, Chengdu, Kaoshiung, Taipei, etc.)

Works were selected to represent Hong Kong in formal exhibitions in Beijing, China and Fukuoka Japan

3 of Gaylord’s paintings were converted into tapestries for permanent display at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre

In 1994 the painting called “Finished Unfinish” was selected by Fukuoka city and converted into official poster for the Asian Month Festival
1998 Headed the “Artist in Residence” project in the Hong Kong Institute of Education
1998 Coloured metal plate artwork “Swift and Safe” at the Airport Express Railway Hong Kong Station was commissioned by MTR, sponsored by Heng Sang Bank
2000 Art Commissioner to the Philippe Charriol Foundation for the exhibition
“L’art de Vivre la Difference” at United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
