Born in an overseas Chinese family in 1946, Professor Siu Fai Wing, whose other name Guren, specializes in flower painting, landscape painting, and is particularly good at painting plum-blossoms and engraving. Siu earned his high reputation in the Chinese painting circle through his long time of participation in collection and connoisseurship; his acquaintance with the circles, and also his hardworking and understanding in art. Currently, he is a committee member of the Chinese Artists Association, member of the Xiling Seal Carving Society, researcher of the Chinese Art Research Institute, Zhejiang University, visiting professor of Xi’an Art Academy, president and chief executive of Hong Kong Art and Culture Group Limited.
Siu is interested in the study of Chinese art history and connoisseurship in painting and calligraphy. Starting from early 1960s, he engaged in art creation and his works are already shown to the public. His acquaintance with famous art masters and scholars such as Zhu Qiqian, Liu Haisu, Wu Zuoren, Lu Yanshao, Huang Miaozi who Siu sometimes made joint paintings with, can be traced to early 1970s, and Siu has been highly recommended by them. Moreover, Siu’s works entered the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th,10th and 11th “Chinese Art Exhibition”, and he has held more than 20 solo exhibition in cities including Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Shantou, Guangzhou, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Zhenjiang since 2000, of which all have been well received by the public. His works and theory of sculpture Literati Sculpture are highly recommended by master sculptors, such as Pan He, Sheng Yang and Cao Chunsheng. China News Special published The Album of Famous Chinese Artist - Siu Fai Wing for “The Special Issue of the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People’s Republic of China”. Siu’s works are collected by Beijing Palace Museum, Chinese Art Gallery, Chinese Sculpture Academy, Hong Kong Heritage Museum and so on. “Siu Fai Wing’s Plum-Blossom Art Museum” and “Siu Fai Wing Art Museum” are built and placed forever in ZhongShanNing in Nanjing and Shantou.
