Artist Biography

Leng Jun was born in 1963 and graduated from the Wuhan Normal University Art Department in 1984. He remains in Wuhan today as the director of the Wuhan Painting Institute, where he is widely acclaimed as one of the finest hyper-realist painters of contemporary China.
He is currently the president of the Wuhan oil painting Collage. His works have been collected by internationally art bodies, museums and private collectors. He is awarded Artist of National level. In one of his solo exhibition held in 2001 Shenzhen, a art teacher criticized and complained about his works, “Artist took photographs of his oil paintings and held a photographic exhibition instead of painting exhibition, as a spectator, I feel that I have been deceived.”


1963 Born in Sichuan
1984 Graduated from the Department of Art in the Hankow Branch of the Wuhan Teacher College.
1993 Net – About the Design of Net was awarded silver prize in the 1993 “Annual Exhibition of Chinese Oil Painting”.
1994 Heritage – New Product Design exhibited in the 2nd “Annual exhibition of Chinese Oil Paintings” and received a second prize. Same year, he participated in the exhibition of “The 100th Year of National Chinese Oil Painting”.
1995 Century landscape – 2 was awarded gold medal of 1995 “The 3rd Annual of Chinese Oil Painting.
1999 Five-pointed Star was award Golden prize in the 9th “National Republic people of China Art Exhibition”.
2000 Participated “1997-1999 Door of the Century Invitation Exhibition” and held a solo exhibition Shenzhen National Gallery.
2001 He started producing lithographs, Mutant – Scissors with Thorns was awarded excellent merit at the 1st “Chinese Small Scale Oil Painting Exhibition”.
2002 Toolbox and six other works from the same series exhibited in the 3rd “Annual China Oil Painting Exhibition”.
