Artist Biography

Born in 1963 in Chongqing city, Sichuan province. Zhang graduated from the oil department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1985 and obtained his master degree in 1988. He is currently lecture of oil painting department and vice president of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, member of China Artists Association, member of council of Chongqing Artists Association, deputy secretary-general of Chongqing City Culture Development Research Centre.

Zhang’s artworks were selected in different art exhibition respectively, including: the 3rd “European and Asian Art Biennale”, the 7th and 8th “National Art Exhibition”, “China Oil Paintings Exhibition”, “50th Anniversary of National Art Exhibition “, the 1st “China Oil Paintings Annual Exhibition”, the 1st “China Scenery Invitation Exhibition”, 93 “China Oil Paintings Biennale” 97 “ China Art Exhibition”, and the 4th “Sports Art Exhibition” etc.

2002 Scenery of Italy participated “China Small Scale Oil Paintings Exhibition” (National Art Museum of China, Beijing).
2003 City Forum received merit award of Chongqing City in the 3rd “China Oil Paintings Exhibition”.
2004 Scenery of Italy received gold medal in the “Art and Photography Competition of Chongqing City”.
A Page in History was collected Military History Museum of China.
2006 Joined “Endless Landscape –Works of China Oil Paintings Artist Invitation Exhibition”
(National Art Museum of China, Beijing).
Formation of Land, Treasure, Layers of Colours of Land joined “Chongqing Special Artworks exhibition” (Qingdao Museum of Art).
Green Hope, Earth participated “Comes from Chongqing – Contemporary Artworks Exhibition (Vancouver, Canada).
2007 China Landscape series joined “2007 International Galleries Expo” (Taipei, Taiwan). “2007 Documenta Kassel Exhibition” (Kassel, Germany)
Call, Warm Blood, Treasure of Land participated “Inheritance and Beyond – Sichuan Fine Arts 30years Academic Review Exhibition” (Boyi Art Gallery, Beijing).
China Landscape, Formation of Land participated “Return Be in Harmony – Mainland and Hong Kong Artiststs Culture Exchange Exhibition”(Sichuan Museum of Art, Chengdu).
