Modern Ink Art is a unique form of representation in Chinese art culture and spirit, compiled with Western Art characteristics. BaoQu Tang Gallery
of Art organizes “Selected Artworks of Au Yeung Nai Chim & Anita Lau Exhibition” in June, the representative paintings will enable visitors to
appreciate the spirit of modern ink art from a new angle.
Ms. Anita Lau has been creating ink paintings with marbling technique since 90’s, she is able to create abstract patterns formed randomly by the movement of floating ink. These abstract patterns of floating ink will then be absorbed and captured on paper. The painter will further transform the patterns by painting it with colored ink. The patterns could resemble flowers, stars or snowflakes, depending on the shape of the pattern and the painter’s imagination. In this way, the subjective expression of the painter is merged with the random movement of ink to create an exquisite painting with a surrealistic touch.
Mr. Au Yeung Nai Chim likes playing graffiti since childhood and later on fell in love with painting. He does a lot of life sketches to portray scenic images. He produces a lot of artworks, comprising of sketches, watercolors, ink and others. While he is traveling aboard, he records different subjects with quick sketches and eventually completes several series of paintings including Yanshan Hike, Listen to sound of the Yangtze River in the Moonlight, Impression of Qian Shan, Scroll-Style Album, and Taihang Mountain Melody.
